RE: Grant Award Announcement- COVID-19 vaccination Outreach and Education
The Africa House Sacramento is very pleased to announce the award of $200,000 for COVID-19 vaccination outreach, registration and support, July 2021-February 2022.  The grant is funded by the Government Operations Agency(GovOPS) of California State through the Public Health Institute(PHI).
The main goal of the grant is to increase vaccination uptake in the affected communities served by the Africa House through outreach, education, vaccine registration and support.
Key objectives in target zip codes are to:
  • Promote awareness about the state’s vaccine efforts and the process for vaccination;
  • Publicize locations where the target communities may receive information about the COVID-19 vaccines in culturally appropriate language(s) and sensitive manner;
  • Provide assistance for people to sign up for the vaccine appointments;
  • Increase access to vaccines in the disproportionately impacted communities; and
  • Focus efforts in geographic areas and within demographic populations least likely to have access to vaccines services, healthcare, and/or have high rates of vaccine hesitancy.
The Africa House Sacramento is committed to the protection of the lives and preservation of the health of people of African descent and all in the community from the COVID-19 pandemic. In furtherance of our core value of Ubuntu (www.africahousesacramento.org), we join the global mobilization efforts for effective education about the COVID-19 vaccination and related health precautions, especially as this has hit hardest, our US African/black populations.  The grant award will scale up our ongoing programs on the COVI-19 education, including previous several town halls on the facts and myths about the vaccines. We look forward to a Pan-African collaboration with our stakeholders in the African/African American and Caribbean communities for successful implementation of the grant, in true partnership and unity of purpose. We are all in this together!  Please, join our efforts, with your commitment to the grant’s objectives and collective mission and interest in the Africa House.
